KAVO was born from a magical journey to Cabo de la Vela, a breathtaking corner in northern Colombia. Getting there isn’t easy. After a direct flight to Riohacha, the capital of La Guajira, the journey continues through desert trails in rugged vehicles until reaching this extraordinary place.
Along the way, indigenous rancherías appear, where women skillfully weave chilas, cook, and carry out their daily routines. Children often stand by the roadside, asking for water, an essential yet scarce resource in the region.
The beauty of Cabo de la Vela captivated us instantly. It was a journey filled with mixed emotions. The awe of its landscapes and the deep admiration for its people. Their language, their way of life, and their unique perspective on the world hold a special kind of magic that draws you in.
From that moment, we knew we had to do something for this region. That was when this incredible journey began, one that fills us with love and pride. We are Laura and Diana, two women from different parts of Colombia, united by a cause that makes our hearts beat stronger. We believe that every grain of sand can help build a desert. Together, we can build a better future for the indigenous mothers of La Guajira.
